Bride and groom on the steps of Hay Castle

Weddings

We warmly invite couples through our medieval gates to enjoy a magical and truly unique wedding celebration. As an ancient monument, beautifully renovated with award-winning contemporary design, Hay Castle embodies both history and style. With breath-taking views of the Black Mountains, the castle provides a stunning setting for relaxed and elegant weddings, civil ceremonies, and blessings.

Once home to the King of Hay and now a centre for literature and the arts, our tale goes back a thousand years, from medieval sieges to the swinging sixties. With just a small number of weddings taking place at Hay Castle each year, this is a rare opportunity to create the wedding of your dreams, and to write your romance into the story of the world’s first Town of Books.

Nestled in the spectacular surrounds of the Black Mountains, Hay Castle is the jewel in the crown of Hay on Wye, the famous town of Books, and every booklover’s dream. A wonderful mix of art, nature, books, and history - if you are looking for a wedding venue with a difference, then Hay Castle could be it.
